Sam graduated summa cum laude from Gordon College in 2015 with a B.S. in biology and completed his doctorate in Biochemistry at the University of New Hampshire in 2023. He began his career as a research assistant at Elucida Research, a private biochemistry and pharmaceutical research facility in Beverly, MA, and then assumed the role of senior research scientist at Elucida, a position he holds to this day. His research has focused primarily on using biochemical and biophysical techniques to elucidate mechanisms of action of cardiovascular therapies, including a special emphasis on omega-3 fatty acids. He has authored or co-authored more than 20 original and review manuscripts (more than half as first author), as well as more than 90 abstracts and oral presentations at international cardiology and cardiovascular scientific congresses. He has been invited to present his research at Harvard Medical School, the University of Montpellier in France, the University of New Hampshire, and meetings of the American College of Cardiology, the European Atherosclerosis Society, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and the Biophysical Society, among others. He has published in high impact journals including Circulation, The Journal of Lipid Research, and Metabolism: Clinical and Experimental.
